Re: Recruitment Thread
I think we can take some recruits from TOS forums and say one or two recruits from FB as a trial and see how we go. In theory they should be going through the same process anyway.
The Panel currently consist of: 1) Fattony888 2) LJ Lee
For chatters lJ, i tend to find that if they are playing off a mobile phone they are less inclined to chat.... If they are playing off a tablet or one of those big mobile phone screen types they are more likely to chat. Perhaps thats one question that could be asked... What device are you playing ToS from? Lol
Should we get some questions going? I'll start...
1) Do you enjoy chatting?
2) what device do you play ToS on?
3) Do you try to sell people a piece of shit on the phone? (Oh wait... Scratch this Q)

Re: Recruitment Thread
Lol ear its all about the chat traffic with you.. chatting can be one of the requirements for our guild, it doesnt have to a question.
i think everybody plays TOS is on a smart phone. a shitty mobile phone would not be able to run TOS at all
I think the questions we ask should be more open-questions rather than 1 word answer questions.
were you in a guild before? and if yes why did you leave your guild?
What do u look for in your ideal guild?
As a member of KoA how will you contribute to our guild?
How would you describe your playing style and how long have you been playing?
What do you enjoy the most about ToS?
These type of questions would be able to assess the players personality and attitude towards ToS and will gives us a better insight.
I think the question 'As a member of KoA, how will you contribute to our guild?' is a must because by answering this, the player will subconsciously and self-willingly give their word on how they will behave and play before even joining the guild and increases the chance that they will be active members. Also, the question will give a sense of autonomy to the player and prevent any sense of coercion coming from the guild requirements.
What do you guys think?

Re: Recruitment Thread
Making it a requirement isnt good enough imo.
The last few recruits said that they were avid chatters (all of them said that) including dxlemon.... But so far its still the core group who are the blabbermouths lol.
As for the questions you penned, i think all of them are relevant, I especially like questions 2 and 5.
Im slightly weary of q4, not exactly sure what this question will serve?
I think all recruits should go through these questions. Even those referred by current members.

Re: Recruitment Thread
all the new recruits definitely try to chat when they are on except for dxlemon. I think its a bit hard being blabbermouths from the get go when u dont know everyone in the guild. We r running a tos guild not a chat forum.
If we put a direct Q&A 'do u like chatting?' every1 will write yes. we need to ask it more subtly. Any ideas?
How would you promote teamwork and friendship in KoA? or something like that?
Since KoA is front and formost about teamwork and friendship, i think we can hint out if they are gonna be chatters from the personality questions 2, 3.

Re: Recruitment Thread
You make some valid points.
The questions are definitely better off as being subtle than direct.
How about "How would you facilitate communications between members?"
Or does this sound too HRish?

Re: Recruitment Thread
I don't think I can be a very good person on the panel, but perhaps you could ask (in regards to chatting):
Are you willing to interact with members of KoA when possible? Or something like that...
Idk, you guys are much more experienced in recruiting people than I am.

Re: Recruitment Thread
Lol ear that sounds very corporate-ish, maybe lesser use of bombastic words lol
Lol okay I'm gonna be under fire for this, but I was wondering if we can set an age bench mark? I tend to realise that those who chat, kind of fall under similar age range.. that is the later 20s to late 30s perhaps? lol I could be wrong tho.

(Sorry, Cherokee Keyboard tend to pop up at randoms times)
I guess the age and device depends on the person, for example, I'm still 19 years and still using an iPhone 4 to chat. It tends to lag a lot, but I still go chat with you guys because you all are such awesome people to chat with, so I think really it just depends on the person.

Re: Recruitment Thread
Lets not set an age range lol.
As KK said, i think its more on the person than the age group. People come from all walks of life, cultures and differing environments.... we should focus on requirements rather than personal characteristics.
Besides, We really don't know enough about age base chat behaviour to make such judgements in the first place.
Also to recruit by age would limit our scope on selection.
In KoA we have a fairly wide age distribution and I feel thats been more of a strength than a weakness for us.
I think Aki summed it up pretty well a few posts ago of what a good member should look like, activity, communication and dedication to the guild

Re: Recruitment Thread
Can we start to formalise some questions for applicants?
I like Fattony888's set of questions... Any feedback on those?
Any other questions you guys think would be worthwhile?

Re: Recruitment Thread
I think these questions by tony is good.
"were you in a guild before? and if yes why did you leave your guild?
What do u look for in your ideal guild?
As a member of KoA how will you contribute to our guild?
What do you enjoy the most about ToS?"
Maybe I would add something like "what is the main difference for you after the introduction of guild system?". This question would probably allow us to know more about how much impact has the introduction of the guild has on the player. If the player enjoys chatting and engaging with other members his reply would likely be significant, likewise competitive if any. What do you guys think?
I think we should ask them about their top 2 decks as well.

Re: Recruitment Thread
Hmm I joined because I didn't think I'd want to:
a) lose out on guild rewards
b) waste my playing time not contributing guild pts somewhere (rebel at heart, stick it to The Man)
I'd classify myself as a casual gamer, with very little time to be an extrovert
Sheesh look at me now

Re: Recruitment Thread
Hahaha, Pink... you intentions of joining a guild almost echoes mine!
I started a guild for the very same reasons!
Never did I envision I would be so involved with the running of the guild. the guild practically takes up more time than playing the actual game itself!

Re: Recruitment Thread
I agree with the spending more time for the guild than the game. But i don't mind, because talking and interacting with you guys is WAY better than just waiting and waiting for the stamina to build.

Re: Recruitment Thread
Tony sounds like a human resource manager
Good questions I think.
Ask open questions and not closed ones (no simple yes or no answer).
I'd add:
What is your personal goal in guild missions?
How would you scale your activity?
What is your personal goal in the game for the next month?
Just some ideas

I guess we streamline 5 important questions to ask? 7-8 seems kind of many too IMO. I mean after their replies we can still ask the less important ones too.

Re: Recruitment Thread
Based on the exp bar seems like we are gonna level up this weekend. Having said that, shall we firm up the questions for the new candidates?
I'm thinking these few will be the confirmed questions (credits to Tony):
1. Were you in a guild before? and if yes why did you leave your guild?
2. What do u look for in your ideal guild?
3. As a member of KoA how will you contribute to our guild?
4. What do you enjoy the most about ToS?
KIV questions:
1. What is the main difference for you after the introduction of guild system?
2. What is your personal goal in guild missions (guild events or daily missions?)
3. How would you scale your activity?
4. What is your personal goal in the game for the next month?
5. Top two decks?
For your advice guys

Re: Recruitment Thread
Brother Knights, Salvete et ave.
With great respect to those who have been wracking their brains as to how to handle the 5 new spaces we are about to have for new members, I wouldn't make the process so involved. I think it could backfire.
Frankly, I never would have joined the guild if I had had to go through an extensive process of questions to be allowed to join. That type of thing turns me right off. I like to think that my leanings are more egaitarian. -- I joined to get the rewards and have a longer list of people to whom I could send friend requests. I was very happy to be chosen for a guild that was already at a higher than most that I was seeing at that time. It was pure selfishness. Joining this guild was blind luck for me, but being a member has spurred me beyond pure selfishness.
I think that the people who talk the talk don't necessarily walk, and even if they give all the right answers, you still won't know what you're getting.
Personally, I would prefer to pick out a few candidates and tell them that they have been made provisional members, and then see what happens. Manny really great discoveries (in science and elsewhere) are purely accidental.
At any rate, that is my two bits worth.
Valete!

thx for advice mao.
I think your right actually.
How about just 2-3 questions?
and ask it in a conversation manner in PM after they have requested to join?
i still think some questions r better than no questions.

Re: Recruitment Thread
“I think that the people who talk the talk don't necessarily walk, and even if they give all the right answers, you still won't know what you're getting.”
I’m totally with the above statement. Time a time again this has proven true in job interviews, to base a candidate purely on what his or her responses are in an interview is a fallacy of our job hunting process.
Which was why for the past 7 levels I have recruited on just general requirements and on a first come first serve basis.
However, this system has also yielded some bad eggs with the good. So the current system isn’t perfect either.
I’m not so insular that I won’t consider other methods of recruitment.
I say we give these questions a go and recruit from FB, TOS forums or what not.
Let’s trial this, see how it goes and if it turns out to be shit, we can always revert back to our laissez faire method.
***********
Fatonny and LJ, are we putting Casper’s two friends through this process as well? Or are you guys thinking of a free pass for them?
Also I have a candidate for consideration… he’s a ToS forum poster goes by the name of XBrotherX.
Could we finalise questions ASAP so we can distribute?
If we don’t want too many questions let’s just go with Fatonny’s four Qs?
