I am an American mutt (Polish, Danish, German, and Irish bloodlines -- Grandmother's maiden name was Sobieski) living and working in Taiwan. My wife is also a teacher. We have three children, one in high school and two in university, which probably makes me the oldest codger on the forum.

Kids got me and my wife started first on LOL, then on TOS. I landed in this forum by luck, and am very happy that this is where I landed. I am glad to meet you all and am very happy to have this group to call my brothers/sisters. SALVE ET AVE!

I live in Sydney Australia and by trade I am a strategy insights analyst.

I am not married but I have a lovely partner and we have a beautiful daughter together. We are expecting a baby boy in the nexy few months. I try to balance my life with work, family commitments and when possible, my interests.

My three main interest are Brazilian Juijitsu (I use to train with pro mma fighters lol), Scuba diving (I'm a certified diver) and Archery (recurve + compound).

Given that these activities require time, dedicated places and other like minded individuals (it gets harder and harder to find people these days), I seem to have less "space" for my interest these days.

These days I seem to focus more on easily reachable interest like my marine aquarium and ToS lol.
I also have interest in Antroplogy (as some of you will know) and have made some cultural vacations to odd places around the globe.

Ear no shit, BJJ? I'm actually keen in learning one discipline of martial arts and BJJ is one of my shortlist, lol. So interesting to know that my GM is actually BJJ specialist!

Yeh Lj, I love it and highly recommend it, I have done abit of Kung Fu (yun chun) and abit of Kickboxing, but I find Bjj best of all. I do Bjj mainly for fitness but the last 15 minutes of the session is always fun as you try to submit your partner!

My first executed submission was a guillotine choke on a guy that was heavier, fitter and more experienced than I was. But that was early days (my 2nd session) so I didnt follow through and let him go. He told me afterwards he was a few seconds away from tapping!
Bummer!

I haven't had time lately to train bjj which is a real, real shame.

I am loth to share details about myself, valuing the anonymity that comes from being on the interwebz
