Building a Mono Fire Deck

Post by Lj_Lee on Mon Mar 03, 2014 6:55 pm

What's up everyone!

My current fire mono consists of the below:

Poppy (ldr), Archilles, Skuld, Cerebus, Medea

I've decided to give it a good revamp, but I'm seriously in a deep dilema such that I don't know what cards would make a good fire mono from my set of fire cards:

Tyr, Sean, Medea, Achilles, Poppy, Skuld, Fire DS, SS Duck, Nezha, Cerebus, GSoF, Taurus, Cthugha, Hong Yue, Magness Fire Elf, Santa

I can include Odin if necessary.

I'm actually looking at

Tyr, Odin, Skuld PR, Sean PR, Nezha

This above setup however is something very similar to my Dark Norse so I'm hoping something relatively more different from it.

Maybe the following:

Tyr, Nezha, Fire DS, Sean PR, Medea (or Skuld PR)

What do you think guys?

Medea is > PR skuld i believe.

If you have jackie, you can try my friend's setup:

Jackie, Taurus, Fire DS, GSOF, Medea + Jackie, I finished WtC with this setup using his account. Wink

Dmg multiplier: 3 (jackie) x 3 (jackie) X 2 (Taurus) x 1.5 (Medea) = 27 times plus endless fire rune from medea's active. or you can replace this jackies with PR Tyr which reduces one 3x to 2.5x and gives you 22.5 times total output with more HPs

This Set-up sounds interesting, I don't have jackie but I think will do fine with Tyr and a Jackie ally. Thanks Blindee for the input! My top list for level is Tyr and Fire DS anyway so this is just fine!

I'd probably go with

Tyr, Nezha, Fire DS, Odin, Medea and Ally Tyr.

The dual Norse God's additional fire rune drop along with Medea's active would provide a decent number of constant fire runes.

Imo, the PR ability is okay in Norse decks, but not exactly overwhelmingly good for a burst (with the exception of additonal fire rune drops/heaven drops, which is largely based on luck). Assuming no addition heaven drops and averaged out rune colors, you'd be getting an average of 3-6 additional combos, which on a normal combo multiplier, adds up to 75-150% additional damage. Odin's active would give you more damage when used properly, although due to the expanded board, the chances of additional combos and heaven drops are higher.

It basically adds an element of chance into your gameplay.

Disclaimer: I do use PR starters in my mono deck (water), but that's because I don't have anything better to put in, whereas in your case, you do. For my water deck, there is synergy between Urd's active (which gives you loads of time to move runes), and a PR Molly which expands the board (for a burst, it is likely that your convertors are going to fill the standard board with the rune of your choice anyway). Which brings me to putting both Skuld PR and Sean Pr in.

Wrt a Tyr, Odin, Skuld PR, Sean PR, Nezha:

Skuld Pr's active (I'm looking at the 200% fire dmg part here), will not stack with that of Sean PR's active; since activating Skuld will trigger the time tunnel. The question here is, when you're preparing to burst, with the active sequence being Nezha, Tyr, Odin, you're pretty much caught in a dilemma as to whether to use Skuld or Sean for the actual burst, which isn't optimal. There is pretty much a conflict of synergy between the two cards, and given you on'y have 1 convertor + burst, it wouldn't make sense to put in two finishers; unless you want an extra one (much smaller amount of damage for just in case situations). Not to mention that with only one convertor, general farming would be slow in place of bad rune drops.

In addition, Skuld with nezha would be pretty pointless given that when you burst, its more than likely your entire screen would be filled with fire runes, which could be difficult to manage unless you're already mastered the stacked time tunnel technique. In any case, I believe PR Skuld is meant to be used in conjunction with Hertz, Hong Yue, Libra etc, for maximised damage in a gods and fiend's deck. The benefit to a mono deck is not overwhelming. Not to say that it wouldn't help in a mono, but the benefit is minimal compared to other cards you could put in.

I finally got my converters at max CD, the next step is gonna level all of them. I do agree with your explanation on Skuld counteracting in the team. I don't know, perhaps I do want to have my team to last more boss stages in the run (ie. Transmigration). I just find having Nezha, and then Fire DS, gonna have too many converters. To add on, Medea's active + Dual Tyr will boost fire drops and I probably won't need fire converters as much as I expect.

Nevertheless, I am cd lvling Nezha so if I do eventually use him, he's ready  Very Happy  I guess its good have the converters always ready at my disposal for mono because we'll never know what MH wants to come up with next lol.

Hopefully JTTW gets their PR soon, the CD10 compared to the better converters out there just don't cut out anymore.

Thanks for your input by the way Larken!
